Retention and expansion
Built to take people deeper into the practice
Waking Up says it designed the community to help people go further with the ideas and practices in the app, and access comes with a subscription. Members sign in with the email on their Waking Up account, get a one-time code and start by introducing themselves in the Introductions channel.
From there the conversations follow the practice into daily life: nondual meditation, mental health and book recommendations, free will and psychedelics, mindfulness in parenting, work and relationships. Some threads dig into specific ideas, such as Looking for the Looker and the Headless Way.

Brand and belonging
From an Introductions channel to 90 local groups
A lot of what members post is personal. People ask how to keep a practice going after becoming a parent, or how to handle the loneliness of a path their friends don’t understand.
And it leaves the screen. By Waking Up’s count, members run 90 in-person groups across 26 countries, and the community page features a recap from a meetup in Barcelona.
