Bettermode uses the member’s email as the identifier and adds what it knows as new attributes and events, without overwriting what Intercom already has.

  • Contacts enriched, never overwritten

    Name, username, member ID, tagline, role, locale, email status and every filled profile field arrive as new attributes on the Intercom contact.

    Account created and verified, profile updates, invitations, space joins and leaves, posts, replies and reactions are sent to Intercom as events.

Setup

Authenticate once, then switch on what you need

Install the Intercom app, authorize your workspace and choose from four options. All of them are optional.

  • Install and authenticate

    Add the Intercom app, click Authenticate with Intercom, pick your workspace and authorize access.

  • Add your identity verification secret

    Paste it into the app settings so the Messenger knows which member it’s talking to.

  • Choose what’s on

    Chat widget, member sync, federated search and member events each have their own toggle.

Good to knowWith the chat widget on, your Intercom Messenger replaces Bettermode’s support messenger for admins on your site. Close it and the Bettermode chat button comes back.
